Well, I spent this last weekend with a small stomach bug and was soooo bored I made a long starburst bracelet. Now my goal is too see how long I can make it before I leave. Thank goodness I saw feeling better by Sunday, I was able to go with the boys to a creek where Alicia was shooting her mini sessions. The boy are actually including me in their play even when their parents are around now. It takes kids a lil bit to warm up to new au pairs. We’re starting to learn and play with our ‘word world’ pieces. Gussy is so much better with his spelling and counting than Ewey. Gussy is also warming up to me faster during the day, but Ewey is better with me at night. These two are like day and night. Gussy is more clumsy, but very smart, Ewey is more about building structures and designs.
After going to the ‘little beach’ creek on Sunday, we were able to tire the boys out into a nap. Gussy slept with Alex in their room and surprisingly, Ewey grabbed his blanket, came into my room and asked if he could lay down with me. He was so sweet about it, except I had to pick him up to put on the bed. It’s about as tall as him, ha ha. He’s in love with my green squishy pillow. I’m seriously thinking about ordering them some or at least searching for some here. I think all kids love them. (I remember my oldest niece Rainn loved my red one. She slept with it during my entire visit the first time I got to meet her. She was two, almost 3, and my youngest niece was just born.) He slept in by bed for about 3 hours peacefully while I listened to music and read.
Today (Monday) was pretty boring until about 4pm. Went into town to hangout with Sarah, got the shopping done.I bought the first part of their Christmas presents today. Thomas books 🙂 I also got the first two of several souvenirs that I’ll be sending home soon. So if you want one, let me know so I can get them into the box I’ll be sending mom. I even bought a new $2 SIM card, but it’s also not working. I’m gonna go into the store tomorrow and make them fix the problem. I really need a phone and I really need them to fix it. I also need Alicia to fill up the go-card for translink (public transport), but these two are so scatter brained when it comes to things that aren’t work, it’s a wonder they remember to go grocery shopping, lol.
I definitely am going to need to go clothing shopping soon. I only have 2 pairs of shorts and very few tank tops. I have 2 jackets, 4 long sleeved shirts, 2 scarves and 4 pairs of jeans. I’m definitely not going to need those until May or June. Summer will start officially the 1st of December, my birthday is on the 8th… so close!! The temps are the same here as they are in Texas, but it seems so much hotter because it’s a very humid/wet heat because we are on the Pacific coast line. The rain is pretty constant during the summer, I’m told.
Going out tomorrow night as well. I don’t spend a lot of time outside of Moorooka or even the house, so I like spending a few hours in Brisbane. I hate getting lost though. Texas was too flat, El Salvador too violent, Germany too many stairs, and Brisbane has waaaaay too many hills, ha ha. It’s a very hilly place so I have to relearn how to do a hill start for a standard car. I really wish that the car Caroline (Alex’s sister) gave us woulda been an automatic
Might be booking a ghost tour this weekend. I can’t wait!! I love the ghost stories, but I really wanna do a ghost hunt. I think they cost around the same price.
