Well, Klarka was sick for a week or so before we were able to get her into the doctor on a Thursday. He sent her to the hospital to get checked out. Immediately after arriving she was sent for a chest xray. Within 10 minutes of getting the results she was being admitted to the hospital. She was diagnosed with pneumokok pneummonia. By Friday she was in the ICU because her breathing wasn’t up to where it needs to be. Released from the ICU and into a room to herself on Sunday, but with an IV port in her right hand. We traded off every day for a few hours each with both grandmas, both parents, and me so someone was always with her. She was released the next Friday. So she spent a week home before the hospital. A week in the hospital. So far it’s been a week and a half since she’s been home. Today’s doctor appt resulted in her being kept home another week. No returning to school until at least the Dec 16. Not sports until after Christmas.
Now, Karin and I ended up going to the hospital the day after she was released for our own check ups. We ALSO had pneumonia. Walking pnuemonia to be more exact. We were ALL on the same antibiotics so our prescriptions had to have our names written on the boxes, lol. After a week on the meds, we’re mostly better. I on the other hand am not. Before Klarka was released Friday, I threw up in the hospital bathroom. From then til now has been 12 days. I have lost 10kg in 10 days because I haven’t been able to keep anything solid down. Only water and tea, some soup as well. Took that long to find a doctor that would take me, never found one that would speak English without costing a crap load. I won’t let Karin spend that much. The doctor we went to see didn’t really know what was going on, just knew that I was in a lot of pain in my stomach and it was probably my stomach and intestines. She sent me to a hospital across the river in Prague 1. Wrong place actually. Ended up seeing another ER doctor who I never want to see again. Spent 6 hours in that hospital before I just gave up and went home. I’ve decided to just deal with this on my own. The healthcare system in this country SUCKS!! I told Karin that if I ever get really sick, just send me home to the States, and preferrably not in a box, haha. I am now on an all liquids diet until we figure out whether it’s gasteroenteritis or Crohn’s. Water, teas, soups. That’s it.
I think I am going to go crazy because of Klarka. She’s hyperactive, crazed with cabin fever. This has resulted in massive nuclear-sized meltdowns and tantrums over her homework and bedtimes. She’s acting more and more like her father did before Karin kicked him out. She will only do her homework if you spend hours yelling at her like he does. It’s becoming an awful situation for her. I think we need to get her tested for ADHD and Aspergers at the very least. Not sure how much longer I can take these. I don’t think I’m going to make it another year. I think this visa term might be my last.
PS. Sunday is my 25th birthday. How did it get here so fast?! How is it already December?! How is it already almost 2014?!
