Wow, I can’t believe it’s only been 2.5 weeks since I got here. Things are going great here. It’s been snowing since Friday, but the temperature has gotten down to -9C and I’m almost constantly bundled up, even in the house, ha ha. I love the snow, but why does it have to be so damn cold?
Sadly my work permits were denied, so we did the next best thing: I am officially a business woman now. I applied for a business license and business visa. My license is infinite, so I can stay here forever if I so wish. I just need to get my visa renewed every year or so. I have a ‘business’ in Home and Family, but might try to start a new actual business here. I noticed there are tons of tours, but none for film/tv/music. Hundreds of movies, tv shows, and music videos were shot here and around Prague (XXX, Casino Royale, GI Joe, Last holiday, Hellboy, Underworld, Les Mis, etc). I think this would be an awesome tour, would any of y’all actually pay money for a tour such as this, if so, please let me know your ideas. Just comment 🙂
I have to go to Bratislava, Slovakia next Monday to pick up my visa, then take a train to the mountains to meet Karin and Klarka for our vacation. We’re spending a week there so hopefully my non-existent skiing skills will develop, lol. We’re also planning possible trips to Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, etc. Lots of road trips and seeing the continent. I’m excited and I think it would be good for all of us. Klarka and I get to see places we’ve never even thought of seeing. Karin gets to get away and have time to reflect.
Starting this week, I’m officially on my own in caring for Klarka and her after school activities. I get to drive Tuesday-Friday, but Mondays I need the bus because golf is in the city
Monday: School and Golf
Tuesday: School and English lessons
Wednesday: School and Tennis
Thursday: School and Tennis
Friday: School and Ice Skating
Saturday: Swimming lessons.
Luckily, I don’t have to drive her to swimming on the weekends.
Klarka was with her father this weekend in the mountains (for the first time in a couple years), so we had the house to ourselves. We spent Friday night watching movies and munching veggies. This diet is gonna kill me, lol. Saturday we slept late, then took a driving tour of the city. We stopped at Prague Castle so we could take a walk, and I got the history from a local’s perspective. Much better pics!
Visited the Railway Museum.
We met a friend of Karin’s for Skyfall. I was soo excited. I can’t believe I’ve never seen a James Bond movie until recently. I watched every James Bond movie in the last week just so I could be caught up, ha ha. Skyfall is by far the best Bond movie so far, just the ending is so sad. 😦
We have the painters here today (Monday) to paint all the walls white to appeal better to buyers. Karin is contemplating moving to a different village because of the bad neighbors and memories here. I can understand that, several of the neighbors are loyal to her ex and gossip constantly. We might either move to a different village, or buy a cottage farther out for Fido to stay at and just buy an apartment in the city closer to Klarka’s new private school and Karin’s office.
So now I need advice of any single parents out there. There are problems going on between my host mom and her cheating ex (of 13 years). He refuses to allow Karin to meet the mistress even though this new woman is around her 5 year old daughter. Jan has been filling Klarka’s head with lies, and then telling her not to tell her mother. Well, she slipped up last night after he dropped her off. Now, when something doesn’t go her way, Klarka starts screaming for her father. What should we do? Karin is already giving a legal letter to him thru their lawyers to make him stop, but they were never actually married, so things are hairy here. Any advice would be appreciated.
Well, that’s it for now. More next week!! I’m trying to update every week or so, but we all know how that goes, lol. I miss Texas, but love it here 🙂
